18-Wheeler Driver Flees Scene of Deadly I-20 Crash in Midland, Texas That Killed 2

 

Two people died tragically yesterday in connection with a hit-and-run accident along I-20 in Midland, Texas involving two 18-wheelers and a passenger vehicle.

The July 10th crash was reported shortly before 1:00 p.m., in the eastbound lanes of the interstate, between FM 1788 and Loop 338.

One of the truck drivers, Jose Gilvane Oliveira Baldassari, 48, fled the scene on foot.

Though it’s not clear what led to the crash, the Texas Department of Public Safety has characterized Baldassari as the responsible driver.

He was identified via a wallet left behind at the accident site, which has been designated a crime scene.

Baldassari is described as 7” tall with a heavyset build. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and khaki shorts.

Midland County Traffic Accidents Have Claimed 20 Lives in 2018

The two people killed in the collision have not been identified pending family notification.

So far, 20 people have died in motor vehicle accidents along Midland County’s roads this year. Tuesday’s deaths were the first so far this month.
