12 Remain Hospitalized Following Deadly New Mexico Tour Bus Crash

A dozen people remain hospitalized today, after a tour bus travelling from Denver, Colorado to El Paso, Texas, was involved in a deadly chain reaction crash along I-25, just north of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Bus Rolled Over When Driver Attempted to Avoid Earlier Crash

The accident occurred shortly before 2:00 a.m. on June 15th, when a passenger car rear-ended a pickup truck in the southbound lanes of the interstate.

Moments later, a tour bus operated by El Paso-Los Angeles Limousine Express was forced to take evasive action to avoid the initial crash. However, the bus driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle, causing the bus to roll over.

The tour bus ended up in the northbound lanes of I-25, where it was sideswiped by an oncoming 18-wheeler.

Authorities Have Yet to Identify 3 Who Died at Scene

The horrific crash tragically killed 3 people, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car involved in the first accident was among the dead. It’s not clear if any of those aboard the bus were killed.

Officials in New Mexico are withholding the identity of the deceased pending family notification.
