Greyhound Bus Crash Leaves 1 Dead, Multiple Injured Near Wichita Falls, Texas

One person died tragically, and numerous others were injured yesterday afternoon when a Greyhound bus collided with a pick-up truck near Wichita Falls, Texas.

Greyhound Bus Was Headed to Dallas from Denver with 29 Aboard

The September 14th crash occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 277 and U.S 183 in the Mabelle area of Baylor County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 29 people were aboard the Greyhound bus en route from Denver, Colorado, to Dallas, including several passengers who had just boarded in Lubbock.

In addition to the state Highway Patrol, various other agencies responded to the accident, including the Archer County Sheriff’s Office, Seymour-Baylor County EMS, DPS Seymour Police Department, and Baylor County Sheriff’s Office. Every AMR ambulance in Wichita Falls was in use, and the hospital there was notified to stand by for multiple trauma cases.

Although it’s not clear what led up to the crash, the bus did rollover before coming to rest on the side of the highway.

Greyhound Passenger Died at Scene, Others Hospitalized with Serious Injuries

An unidentified Greyhound passenger died at the scene. Multiple people suffered severe injuries and were taken to the hospital, including three transported by Air Evac. The driver of the pick-up truck was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident and has not indicated what caused the crash or which driver might have been at fault.
