Holiday Inn Express Explosion Lawsuit
Our Explosion Lawyers have filed a lawsuit on behalf of a construction worker who was seriously injured in the Holiday Inn Express explosion that rocked downtown Houston in early October.
This lawsuit follows just weeks after our firm filed claims on behalf of workers and nearby residents injured in the 2025 Smitty’s Supply explosion in Roseland, Louisiana, and one year after filing suit for 21 employees injured during the 2024 Sandman Hotel explosion in Fort Worth, Texas.
Holiday Inn Express Explosion: What’s Known
The explosion occurred shortly after 11:00 a.m. on October 2nd, 2025, at the Holiday Inn Express & Staybridge Suites, a 17-story hotel under construction, at 1319 Texas Avenue in downtown Houston.
Our client was one of at least six workers injured in the blast. He was simply there to do his job — delivering furniture to the site — when the explosion’s force threw him against a wall, causing severe injuries that have required extensive and ongoing medical treatment.
Preventable Explosion Now Under Investigation
According to initial reports, the explosion involved a natural gas line and a system of tankless water heaters. Early evidence indicates that the contractor and hotel developer failed to properly install, inspect, and maintain critical equipment — failures that could have and should have been prevented.
“Something like this, ultimately, it shouldn’t happen,” our trial attorney Justin Warner told the Houston Chronicle. “It doesn’t happen unless someone does something wrong — whether they’re negligent, cutting corners, or trying to move quicker than they should.”
Our attorneys have assembled a team of the nation’s leading cause-and-origin investigators, engineers, and safety experts to determine exactly what went wrong and hold all responsible parties accountable, including:
- The locally-based contractor
- The hotel developer
- Any other negligent third party
No worker should ever have to suffer because a company chose speed or profit over safety. At Zehl & Associates, we never back down until we uncover the truth, secure justice for our client, and help prevent future tragedies like this one.
That starts with pursuing every possible avenue and legal claim against those responsible — from negligent contractors to anyone whose oversight contributed to the explosion — to ensure our client recovers the full compensation they deserve.
