Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash on I-20 Near Terrell, Texas Tragically Kills 3 From Cameron Parish, Louisiana

 

A horrific 18-wheeler crash along I-20 near the Tanger Outlet Mall in Terrell, Texas tragically killed 3 motorists yesterday afternoon.

Fire Heavily Damages One 18-Wheeler, Pickup Truck

The August 21st accident occurred around 2:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just west of State Highway 34.

The pickup truck became wedged between two 18-wheelers.

A fire then engulfed the pickup and one of the rigs.

The second 18-wheeler sustained only minor damage.

3 Occupants of SUV Died at Scene, 2 Others Injured

Three people travelling in the pickup died at the scene:

  • Benjamin Welch, 77
  • Linda Welch, 72
  • Alice Little, 49

All were residents of Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Two others hurt in the crash were transferred to a local hospital. No information regarding their identities or their current condition has been released.

Investigators Have Completed Accident Reconstruction

The crash forced the closure of eastbound I-20, with traffic diverted to a service road for most of the afternoon.

It’s not yet known what caused the deadly crash. Investigators completed an accident reconstruction last night but have declined so far to release any additional information.

The wreck was not cleared until 9:45 p.m.
