Trapped Motorists Rescued Following 18-Wheeler Crash on I-35 Near Temple, Texas

Two motorists were injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicle became wedged between an 18-wheeler and a concrete barrier along I-35, just outside of Temple, Texas.

18-Wheeler Attempted Lane Change Just Before Crash

The June 3rd accident occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. at mile marker 304, in a construction zone on the southbound side of the interstate.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was attempting to change lanes at the time, pushing a silver sedan up against the concrete barrier.

The collision brought southbound traffic on I-35 to a halt until about 4:30 p.m., when the accident was finally cleared.

Trapped Motorists Extracted Through Vehicle Roof

Responders from Temple Fire & Rescue used extraction equipment to cut through the roof of the sedan and remove its trapped occupants.

Temple EMS transferred both to Scott & White Medical Center-Temple. Officials have not provided updates on their condition, but their injuries were not thought to be serious.

The driver of the 18-Wheeler was not hurt.

Temple police continue to investigate the crash.
