Texas Refinery Accident Lawyer | ExxonMobil Beaumont Contractor Hurt in Scaffolding Fall
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA – February 13, 2022: ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Refinery, Louisiana, USA. ExxonMobil, is an American multinational oil and gas corporation.

Yet another worker at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery has been injured on the job, this time in a fall from scaffolding.

Injured Contractor Works for Wyatt Field Service Company

This incident occurred on January 30th but was only publicly confirmed on February 3rd.

According to Fox 4 in Beaumont, the injured worker is employed by Wyatt Field Service Company, a Houston, Texas-based contractor serving the petrochemical and refining industries. He remained hospitalized with undisclosed injuries as of Friday and was listed in stable condition.

“Currently, our employee is receiving medical treatment for their injuries, and we are optimistic for their recovery,” Shawn Buchanan, Vice President/General Manager Wyatt Field Service Company, said in a statement issued to Fox 4.” The safety of our employees is of the utmost importance, and we are deeply saddened for our employee and his family.”

So far, it’s not clear what might have caused the worker to fall from the scaffolding. The accident remains under investigation.

Past ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery Accidents

Unfortunately, this is not the first time a worker has been seriously or fatally injured at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery.

In December 2017, another contractor was tragically killed after being struck in the head by a pipe. She was employed as a pipefitter’s assistant by Echo Maintenance, LLC, a company performing construction at the facility.

A contract worker for Altair Strickland also died at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery after being struck by a falling pipe in May 2016.

In the worst incident to date, a flash fire at the refinery injured four contract workers in April 2013, including two who later died.

Just this past October, a PSC contractor died in connection with a railcar accident at the ExxonMobil Beaumont Lubricant Blending and Packaging Plant, a facility that, like the refinery, is part of the sprawling ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex.
