Fatal Brownsville 18-Wheeler Crash Tragically Kills San Benito Man, Leaves 4 Injured

 

A Texas motorist died tragically yesterday morning, following a violent 18-wheeler crash in Brownsville that sent all four of his passengers to the hospital.

18-Wheeler Was Reversing onto Grassy Area of the Highway

The June 7th accident occurred around 4:18 a.m., as the semi-truck was reversing onto a grassy portion of State Highway 4 at Lyndon B. Johnson Boulevard. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a GMC Sierra driven by a 36-year-old San Benito man was heading west on Highway 4 and collided with the rear of the trailer.

Sadly, the driver of the Sierra was pronounced dead at the scene.

4 Hospitalized in Brownsville and Harlingen

The four women traveling with him were rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville and Harlingen. Authorities have not identified the passengers or disclosed the nature of their injuries. It’s also not clear if any remained hospitalized overnight.

Texas state troopers have yet to determine if speed or other factors contributed to Sunday’s tragedy.
