An Amarillo woman died tragically Monday morning when an 18-wheeler struck the van she was driving outside Boys Ranch in Oldham County, Texas.

18-Wheeler Struck Delivery Van While Attempting to Pass Semi-Truck

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the January 11th collision occurred around 9:35 a.m., as a 2019 Mercedes Benz delivery van driven by the victim headed north along a curved section of U.S. 385, about two miles south of Boys Ranch. Simultaneously, two 18-wheelers – a 2012 Peterbilt and a 2003 Peterbilt– were heading south along the same stretch of roadway.

As all three vehicles navigated the curved, the 2003 Peterbilt moved over into the northbound lane and attempted to pass the other semi-truck.  Unfortunately, the 18-wheeler did not have enough time to complete the maneuver and collided with the northbound van before striking the second Peterbilt’s trailer.
