18-Wheeler Collides Head-On With Subcompact Car Near Ruston, Louisiana, Tragically Killing Ville Platte Man

 

A motorist from Ville Platte, Louisiana died tragically last Friday, following an head-on collision with an 18-wheeler near Ruston, Lincoln Parish.

18-Wheeler Swerved to Avoid Stopped Toyota Yaris

According to the Louisiana Highway Patrol, the 2015 Freightliner tractor-trailer was heading north on Louisiana Highway 33. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., the rig encountered a Toyota Yaris stopped along the roadway near the Highway 822 (Shadow Road) intersection.

The 18-wheeler driver was unable to stop and swerved in an attempt to avoid the Toyota. Unfortunately, the truck sideswiped the stopped vehicle and crossed into the oncoming lane.

22-Year-Old Ville Platte Man Died at Accident Scene

The tractor-trailer then proceeded to collide head-on with a 2018 Nissan Versa travelling south on Highway 33. The Versa’s driver, a 22-year-old man from Ville Platte, died at the accident scene.

The drivers of the 18-wheeler and Toyota Yaris were both hurt in the crash and transferred to a local hospital. So far, authorities have not commented on the extent of their injuries or their current condition.

Louisiana Investigators Await Toxicology Test Results

Last Friday’s deadly 18-wheeler crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Police have confirmed that all three drivers were properly restrained. Routine toxicology samples were obtained at the hospital and submitted for analysis.

At this time, it’s not clear if anyone will be charged in connection with the crash.
