It was just a regular day. I was heading to basketball training. The light was green, and as soon as I went underneath it, an 18-wheeler hit me.

I had never been in a car accident before. I didn’t know what was going on — all I knew was that the 18-wheeler had run a red light. The next thing I remember, my door was pushed in, the airbag had hit me in the face, and I was stuck between the door and the airbag.

Luckily, there was a police car across the street getting gas. The officer saw everything, called an ambulance, and they rushed me to the hospital. I am very fortunate. Some people don’t walk away from accidents like this.

Basketball is my passion, and I want to give back — to help kids develop their skills and hopefully give them the same opportunities I had, like playing college basketball or competing at a high level in high school.
