A pipeline explosion in the heart of the Permian Basin injured three Winkler County, Texas oilfield workers yesterday afternoon.
Flowback Pipeline Exploded During Power Washing Job
The May 6th explosion erupted shortly after 12:00 p.m., as a crew was performing a power washing job at an oilfield located just off County Road 404-Cattleguard #4.
While it’s not known what caused the blast, the Winkler County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the explosion involved a flowback pipeline.
Injured Worker Airlifted from Winkler County Explosion Site
Paramedics transferred two of the unidentified workers to the Kermit Emergency Room. The third victim was airlifted to another hospital by Aerocare, suggesting that individual’s injuries may have been critical.
So far, authorities have not identified the workers’ employer, disclosed the nature of their injuries, or commented on their current condition. It’s also not clear if any of the victims remain hospitalized.
