An 18-wheeler driver tragically died this week after a crash left his rig dangling from a highway overpass in Allen, Texas.

18-Wheeler Hit Another Vehicle, Came to Rest on Overpass

The September 14th accident occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m., as the semi-truck was headed south in the 700 block of U.S 75. According to the Allen Police Department, the truck collided with another vehicle, causing the driver to lose control of the rig.

The 18-wheeler proceeded to run over the right safety barrier, slid to a stop, and came to rest suspended from the overpass. When first responders arrived at the crash site, they found the truck driver outside his vehicle. Sadly, he died of injuries sustained in the accident.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the victim’s family and friends as they deal with their loss,” the Allen Police Department said in a press release.

It’s unclear whether the other driver suffered any injuries in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call the department at 214-509-4200.
